Oilskin waxed cotton for water-repellent clothing

Oilskin is the current trend when it comes to the perfect material for sewing rainwear, bags and backpacks!
Sealing with a solid, "dry" wax layer makes this robust, thin cotton fabric in plain weave water-repellent but breathable at the same time. Already during sewing, the first creases show through the folding and moving, but that is part of the character of this fabric. Fulling makes the fabric smoother and also gives it a used look.
Unwanted creases and folds can be easily removed with a household hairdryer, but will also fade easily over time.
This creased look is a very typical, deliberate characteristic and does not represent a reduction in quality.

Oilskin should not be washed, as this dissolves the oil from the fibre. Remove soiling only with a soft clothes brush. Remove heavy soiling with cold water and rubbing oilskin on oilskin. If washing is unavoidable, the wax layer can be renewed afterwards with a special commercial care and impregnation spray for Oilskin.

The fabric is delivered folded, resulting creases can be removed again with a hair dryer!
